Term 4 Homework Tasks
Weeks 5,6,7,8
Mathletics:
Complete two tasks every night through the week.
Each week you should have completed no less than 8 tasks. When you finish a whole strand then have a go at the test.
If you find anything too difficult go to the help section and use the examples on how to do the tasks.
Start from the easy examples and work your way through to the harder examples. Keep doing the examples until you understand what to do.
If you still don't get it ask Mrs Searson or Mrs Weston the next day for help.
After you finish each task check your results. If you score below 90% then do the tasks again. The tasks change but you are still practising the same skill.
Each morning we will be checking who has been on Mathletics and your results.
The more you practice the more you will improve in your maths.

Week 2 & 4

PMI Chart:
Choose one Aid project from one of the Australian Aid organizations you researched last week. Research this particular project and why it is so important.
(Use the questions below as a guide for your research).

  • Which country/countries is this project happening in?
  • What is the aim of this project?
  • Is it classified as emergency aid or developmental aid?
  • Who benefits the most from this project? E.g. parents/ whole families/ children/ the sick/ refugees/
  • What would happen if this project was not in place?
  • How do people donate to this cause?
  • Which countries are involved in donating for this cause?

Create a PMI chart on your student page, which includes information you have researched.
Your PMI chart must be completed on your student page by next week, the 27th October.

Digital Story Assessment:
Create a digital story that aims to promote the Aid Organistion you have researched. This digital story must include information about the Aid Organization and its aims and information about the particular project you have researched.
It must include appropriate pictures that provide empathy and understanding about why this project is important.

Your digital story is to be completed and uploaded to your page by Thursday the 3rd November (Two weeks from now). This assignment will go towards part of your HSIE assessment.

So get started as soon as possible!!
(We will be holding tutorials during class time about how to create an effective digital story and how to upload this to your student page).

Week 1 & 2:
Due Thursday 20th October.
Global Recount:
Complete this recount on your own wikispace student page. (Click on student pages (in the menu bar), Click on your name, click on edit, and type up your recount on your page. You must click 'save' in the top tool bar)
We will be frequently checking the history on your student pages to see who is accessing the student pages.

Global Recount:
Write a recount of your day from morning till bedtime.
In this recount you should create a list of the appliances and tools you use during each part of the day and what country they were made in (like we did in class in week one).
Example:
‘I cooked my toast in a toaster made in (China) and spread it with jam made in (Australia). I ate my toast with a cup of tea made with leaves grown in (India) and packed in (Malaysia ). I dressed in my running shoes made in (Korea), and jeans and shirt made in (Cambodia), while listening to a song by an (American) band being played on my (Japanese) radio. I had a phone call from my parents who had just returned from holidaying in (Fiji). I quickly listened to the eight o’clock news, which reported an air disaster in (Chile) before I ran out the door to get driven to school in my (German) car.’ ...

Where does Australia send aid to and how do these organisations help other countries?
Due Thursday 20th October
World Aid Organisations:
Research three world aid organisations. One of these must be AusAid. (Use the Global connections link on our menu bar to find these organisations).
Use these questions to help you focus on what to learn about from these organisations.
  • What does the organisation do to help poverty around the world?
  • What issues are dealt with?
  • What countries do they provide aid for?
  • What projects are in place to provide aid?
  • How does the aid get to the country?
  • What services do they provide?

Choose ONE organisation to create an interesting and informative brochure about. (Use the questions as a guide)
You may like to include pictures, symbols and unique projects the organisation is involved in.
